Welcome to our new V.P. of Finance
We want to give a warm AFG welcome to our new Vice President of Finance, Michele Finley. Michele brings 20+ years of nonprofit financial leadership, known for strengthening operations, compliance, and sustainability, grounded in her deep commitment to family and community.
Michele Finley has been appointed Vice President of Finance at Alternatives For Girls (AFG), bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit financial leadership experience to the Detroit-based organization. A lifelong Detroiter, Finley’s leadership is grounded in a deep commitment to faith, family, and community.
Finley is recognized for strengthening financial operations, enhancing compliance, and building systems that support long-term sustainability. Her experience spans human services, behavioral health, education, and youth development organizations, where she has led financial strategy, audit readiness, and operational improvements. She is known for her ability to bring structure to complex environments while aligning financial stewardship with mission-driven outcomes.
Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional role. Finley leads the “Basket of Promise” initiative, a community effort that provides Thanksgiving meals and support to families in need across the Detroit area. She views this work as both a responsibility and a calling.
At AFG, Finley is drawn to the organization’s mission to support and empower young women experiencing homelessness, trafficking, and instability. In her role, she is focused on strengthening financial infrastructure, improving reporting, and ensuring the organization is positioned for long-term growth and impact.
“I am an AFG woman, grounded in faith and strengthened by a community of women who lead with purpose and compassion. Through every challenge, we support and uplift one another—and because of that shared commitment, we are stronger together,” Finley said.
