Finding self-esteem, improving a grade-point average, rejecting drugs and alcohol, pregnancy prevention, connecting with a mentor, and discovering untapped talents — these are some of the experiences girls have when they take part in AFG’s Prevention Program. These experiences happen year-round in our Asset Building and College Readiness Program. Through Asset Building, we offer the Rise-N-Shine Summer Camp, After School Programming, Mentoring, Parent Education, College Savings, and Academic Enrichment for participants aged 7 through high school graduation.
The Asset Building Program is committed to meeting quality standards for mentoring that are safe and effective. We strive to follow the nationally recognized best practices. To achieve these standards, Asset Building is engaged in the 2-step National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS) process, a national continuous quality improvement process for mentoring programs, by completing a quality self-assessment and review facilitated by Mentor Michigan+, and by completing quality improvement and innovation goals to further align its practices with evidence based standards for mentoring programs. Learn more about the NQMS process here.
