Qualified Contractors
Alternatives For Girls (AFG) seeks a contractual relationship with a qualified Michigan / metro Detroit-based contractor. Work includes the installation of the following items.
- Electronic Door Operator System
- Emergency Notification system with ADA-compliant LED/Visual+ Sound Panels
- Cloud-based phone system upgrade
Contractors wanting to bid shall show the following qualifications:
- Provide the SAM.GOV entity number or register with SAM.GOV
- At least 5 years of experience in their relative trade
- Licensed as required by state and/or local law
Insurance: General Liability and Auto Liability insurance with Alternatives for Girls and the City of Detroit named as Additional Insured are required. Workman's compensation insurance is also required.
Bid information will be available Starting January 25, 2025, by contacting Roshawn Moore by emailing rmoore@alternativesforgirls.org. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and examination of the premises will occur at the project site (903 W Grand Blvd.) on 1-29, 1-30, 1-31. Please email to schedule a meeting.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 5 pm on 2-27-2025. No bids will be accepted after this time. All bids must be submitted by trade and line item.
All bids will be publicly announced by email or Zoom call. The date is TBA, and all interested parties are invited to attend. Alternatives For Girls will award a contract to the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder. However, AFG reserves the right to waive any irregularity in any bid or to reject any or all bids should it be deemed in its best interest.
The contracts will be executed under the Public Facility Rehabilitation Agreement administered by the City of Detroit Housing and Revitalization Department. The successful contractor(s) must comply with all applicable federal laws, including equal employment opportunity, and must be cleared and approved by the City of Detroit.
- Executive Order No. 2016-1 states, in part, that all City of Detroit project construction contracts shall provide that at least fifty-one percent (51%) of the workforce must be bona-fide Detroit residents.
Bidders are required to furnish a bid guarantee equal to (5%) of their bid. The Bid guarantee shall be either a bid bond or a certified check made out to Alternatives for Girls. The successful bidder is also required to furnish payment (Labor and Materials) and performance bonds in the amount covering the faithful performance of the contract and the payment of all obligations arising thereunder, in the amount of 100% of their contracts executed by a surety, which is licensed to do business in the State of Michigan.
