- Street Outreach: Volunteers go out in AFG vans on the streets of Detroit where they provide “Help Cards”, food, harm-reduction kits, warm clothing, and transportation to young women in crisis or at risk.
- Crisis Resource Center: Volunteers serve as a listening ear and conduit of information about resources inside and outside of AFG. The volunteer will answer the phone and assist any walk-ins seeking assistance.
- Events: Volunteers may serve on fundraising event planning committees or assist with event tasks such as registration, coat check, set up and break down, silent auction, etc.
There are many opportunities to intern at Alternatives For Girls, for students in all majors. Priority is given to students who apply at least 30-45 days before the internship is scheduled to begin. However, fall internship requests are encouraged to be submitted by June 1. If you are interested in applying, please complete the application listed on the right side of this page and contact Jessica Pate, Volunteer Services Manager, with any questions at email@example.com.
Each month at Alternatives For Girls, we open our doors and invite our community in to get to know us. In just one hour, visitors learn more about what we do and our history, hear about volunteer opportunities, and tour our facility. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Jessica Pate, Volunteer Services Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
