On Tuesday, May 14th from 5:30-9:00 pm at the DMC Children's Hospital Auditorium, AFG's STOP Trafficking Our Peers team will sponsor the event "Human Trafficking--Modern Day Slavery." The event will feature a screen of the documentary "Survivor: Living Above the Noise," followed by a discussion of human trafficking. For more information, downlad the event flyer.
AFG was recently featured on Channel 4 in a story about the issue of human trafficking in Detroit. Click here to watch the segment featuring AFG's Outreach Director, Deena Policicchio, and one of AFG's incredible participants!
AFG is currently seeking mentors for mothers who are a part of our new Infant Mental Health program. Any community member over the age of 25 can be a mentor. We ask for mentors to provide support and encouragement to young mothers in our program. For more information, download the Mothers and Mentors flyer, or call Amanda at (313)361-4000 ext. 277.
Each month at Alternatives For Girls, we open our doors and invite our community in to get to know us. In just one hour, visitors learn more about what we do and our history, hear from our CEO, and hear from one of the young women of AFG. The next open house will be held: Thursday, May 23rd at 9:00 am. For more information or to RSVP, please contact our Volunteering Department at (313) 361-4000 ext. 280 or volunteering@alternativesforgirls.org.
